WNBA Player Props Today.
Dimers' new WNBA player props model has generated +41.1 units of profit across its first 218 recommended bets.

Dimers launched an upgraded WNBA player props model earlier this month, designed to build on one of its existing strengths—projecting playing time—while adding significantly more context around each player, their role, and the game around them.

We announced the upgraded model on August 4. Now, we have our first meaningful set of live results.

Through games played on August 18, the new model has generated +41.1 units of profit across 218 recommended WNBA player prop bets, with a 60.6% strike rate and 18.9% return on investment (ROI) using the best available odds across supported sportsbooks.

In other words, someone staking $100 on every recommended bet would currently be up approximately $4,110.

The recommended bets are available to Dimers Pro members, with results graded against closing sportsbook lines.

Recommended Bets218
Strike Rate60.6%
Profit+41.1 units
ROI+18.9%

It's an encouraging start for a model designed to make WNBA player projections more responsive to the circumstances surrounding each player and game.

The upgraded model keeps projected minutes at its core while better accounting for recent form, player role, expected lineups, positional matchups, schedule, venue, and market expectations.

Those projections ultimately power the WNBA player props and recommended bets surfaced by Dimers each day.

WNBA player prop unders are leading the charge

One trend stands out across the first 218 recommendations: unders have performed particularly well.

The model has identified 140 recommended under bets, which have combined for a 65.7% strike rate and +39.0 units of profit, equivalent to a 27.8% ROI.

Overs have remained profitable overall, but by a much smaller margin. Across 78 bets, overs have returned +2.1 units at a 2.7% ROI.

Bet TypeBetsStrike RateProfitROI
Under14065.7%+39.0u+27.8%
Over7851.3%+2.1u+2.7%

It's an interesting early trend rather than a conclusion about where the model's long-term advantage will come from. We'll continue tracking it as the sample grows.

Rebounds and 3-pointers are also early standouts

The model currently turns projections into recommended bets across four tracked WNBA player prop markets: points scored, total rebounds, total assists, and 3-pointers made (3PM).

Total rebounds has generated the most profit, returning +24.6 units across 105 bets with a 62.9% strike rate.

3PM has produced the strongest ROI, with 22 of 29 recommended bets winning. That's a 75.9% strike rate, +15.1 units of profit, and 52.2% ROI.

Points scored have also been profitable, while assists are the only one of the four markets currently in the red.

Prop MarketBetsStrike RateProfitROI
3-Pointers Made2975.9%+15.1u+52.2%
Total Rebounds10562.9%+24.6u+23.4%
Points Scored5158.8%+8.5u+16.7%
Total Assists3342.4%-7.1u-21.6%

The variation between markets is also a useful reminder that 218 total bets is still an early sample. Results can move quickly, particularly within individual prop categories.

How Dimers' WNBA player props model works

The model starts by estimating how much each player typically produces per minute and combining that with projected playing time to establish a baseline projection.

Machine learning then adjusts that projection based on the specific player and game context. Inputs include recent and longer-term performance, the player's role, expected lineups and positional matchups, schedule and rest, and venue and market expectations. Projections are refreshed multiple times throughout the day as new information becomes available.

For rookies and players with limited WNBA history, appropriately weighted college production is blended with WNBA data so meaningful projections can be generated from their debut.

The model can also adapt when the data indicates a genuine change in a player's role—for example, following a trade or an injury to a teammate—by placing greater weight on recent performance when longer-term history becomes less representative.

Player points projections are also anchored to market expectations for each game, helping keep individual projections consistent with a realistic team total.

How WNBA player prop picks are identified

A difference between a Dimers projection and a sportsbook line doesn't automatically become a recommended bet.

For points, rebounds, assists, and 3-pointers made, projections are converted into calibrated over/under probabilities using methodologies tailored to each market. Picks must then clear market-specific thresholds and reliability checks before being surfaced as recommendations.

Before launch, the model was trained on historical data and validated out-of-sample against games it had never seen, using actual results and real closing sportsbook lines. It was profitable overall across hundreds of recommended bets in that testing, with performance improving when picks were restricted to its highest-confidence opportunities.

The first 218 live recommendations are another encouraging data point.

A 60.6% strike rate, 18.9% ROI, and +41.1 units of profit is a strong start, but it's still just that—a start.

We'll continue tracking and sharing the results as the sample grows.
