NFL Week 8 betting recap: Where the Dimers model dominated and why it pays to follow
Find out where the Dimers model won big in Week 8 of the NFL, from underdogs to longshot touchdowns and more.

Week 8 of NFL betting is in the books, which means it's time to take a look at where the Dimers model was most dialed in this weekend.
From an SNF touchdown sleeper to a MNF upset in waiting, and maybe the least surprising underdog win of the week, the Dimers data found a number of profitable betting angles.
If you were leaning on our NFL predictions from the Dimers model, you'd have caught several of these outcomes coming from a mile away, all sourced from our exclusive Dimers Pro insights.
Dimers Pro remains the top betting resource in your pocket this NFL season, and when paired with the Dimers App, you'll keep finding these kinds of edges week in and week out.
Let's see where the Dimers model was most dialed in from this weekend's slate.
Dimers' spreads have first "down" week
Our final tally of the 14 games: a 7-7 result. Not bad if you're betting on pick 'ems as it should keep you above the league average, but our first week with under a 50% hit rate.
You can check every game's spread prediction at closing and our model's projected final score in our NFL Game Predictions; just change to Week 8 in the dropdown menu and click through each game.
How do we determine our model's pick on the spread?
We check each NFL game prediction, and wherever our model favors a side above 50% against the spread, or finds value on a team at the closing number, that's our pick.
In games where the Dimers model predicted a 50/50 split, we check our predicted final score for the tiebreaker, as it will always land on one side of the spread.
Notable model picks that cashed this week included the Rams, Bears and Jaguars, all covering behind Dimers' stronger numbers.
Dimers' top call-outs
It's rarely a chalk week betting on the NFL, and Week 8 was no different, with these performances backing up the numbers we had on the board and covered as favorable betting angles via our best NFL bets and best NFL player props.
Stefon Diggs finds the end zone
Featured in our weekly NFL Best Bets video and sitting in our Best NFL Player Props with an edge for much of the week, the Commanders' de facto WR1 got a big edge to score, and he cashed in early on in the second quarter of SNF vs. the Eagles.
Cash it ✅

At a 35.5% probability, Diggs was available at +230 ahead of kickoff, a notable edge over his fair value of +198 odds.
Mispriced value on the OPOY
Diggs wasn't the only No. 1 WR to capitalize on some Dimers value in Week 8.
The No. 1 receiver in the entire league was undervalued for a touchdown by nearly 3% by the market ahead of MNF.
A mispriced line on a JSN TD was far too generous by the markets. We’ll take it ✅

He found the end zone on a 43-yard passing play just before the end of the first half, making it back-to-back primetime games with our model cashing in a TD edge.
Cowboys collapse in classic fashion
Make it five straight losses to the Cardinals for the Cowboys, who have now beaten Arizona just one time since 2006.
This one was even more mind-boggling, as Dallas was 69-0 with a 14-point 4th-quarter lead at home, ultimately losing to a backup QB and RB in the same game, cratering Dallas' season to a new low.
We highlighted this lopsided history on our socials, and our model identified a slim edge on Arizona to pull off the upset.
What the Dimers model said about these standout performances
Some of the biggest player and team performances of the week - here's what our model predicted around those outcomes and where you might have found an edge in our NFL player projections:
Lions upset Vikings
The Vikings fell for the first time this season, losing to the Lions in a slugfest of a game that went about as well as Detroit could have hoped against Minnesota's elite defense.
Until the final minutes, the league's best defense held the Lions to just 12 points, nearly cashing our 54.7% probability pick on the 3.5-point spread. But we gave the Lions a 62% probability to hand Minnesota its first loss, still ranking Jahmyr Gibbs as the top TD option of the week, which he cashed.
D'Andre Swift's hat trick on MNF
For the second time this season, Bears RB D'Andre Swift cashed in with a 3-TD performance, doing so back in Week 1 and now against the Seahawks.
He ranked as our 13th-most likely RB to score this past week at 49.0%, and had a 3.1% chance to score three touchdowns, which would have been fair at +3125 odds.
We also highlighted his value as the game's top rusher, which he cashed with ease behind a projection of more than 30 yards over the next contender, and the Bears were among our top probabilities to cover the spread in all of Week 8 at 54.7%.
Where we missed in Week 8
We had a pair of rushing ladders in our sights, Chase Brown and Kyren Williams. While Brown cashed his standard rushing line, both fell just a few yards short of their plus-money targets.
Our Touchdown Round Robin targeted multi-TD scorers this week, and we hit our longest odds on Bhayshul Tuten at +500, but needed one more each from Kyren Williams and Derrick Henry, who each scored once. Chase Brown and Javonte Williams failed to score at all.
Our TNF parlay got off to a great start, hitting two TD props in the first half, but the Packers' run game was simply not efficient enough to hit our yardage target.
Not every prediction will be a winner, but if you trust the data long-term and rely on statistical decisions, you're more likely to find success over time.
