Three bets to make in the WNBA on Saturday, July 18
Bet: Sarah Ashlee Barker 2+ threes (+194 on FanDuel)
Game: Fire vs. Lynx
Sarah Ashlee Barker spent her rookie year on the bench in Los Angeles before joining the Fire in their expansion draft.
She's started 13 games with her new team, seeing all of her numbers jump appropriately, most notably going from 3.1 points per game to 10.6 and seeing her 3PT attempts double.
Over her past 12 games back through the Commissioner's Cup, she's hit 2+ threes in 6 games.
We project her for 1.5 tonight, putting 2+ in play against a Minnesota team that allows the second- most attempts from beyond the arc. Their 3PT% defense ranks top five, but when needing just a pair of threes, volume is just as important.
As 12-point underdogs, the Fire will most likely be playing from behind, which leans into a three-point friendly game script.
Bet: Jonquel Jones to get a double double (+130 on FanDuel)
Game: Liberty vs. Fever
This one may hang on the injury status of the Fever's Aliyah Boston, but if she's out, these odds likely move, so bet this one as you are comfortable.
Projected for 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds tonight, Jones is on a four-game double double run, sneaking by with a 10 and 10 line in her last game, nearly a week ago on Sunday vs. the Tempo, so she's well-rested. Though it's spoiler her once or twice this year, she has just four games without double-digit points, so it's primarily the rebounds matchup we're looking at.
Jones ranks 5th in boards in the WNBA and draws the team allowing the fewest rebounds per game in the league. However, the Fever's top rebounder, Aliyah Boston, is nursing a leg injury that's caused her to miss two of their last five games, and she's listed questionable tonight. Indiana lost both of those games and allowed the most rebounds they have all month last game without Boston.
Caitlin Clark, third on the team in rebounds, is nursing an injury of her own and after a 45-point, 10-rebound game last night, it remains to be seen how heavily she plays on a back-to-back, a stark contrast to Jones' 5 days rest.
Even if she Boston plays, Jones put up 12 boards against a healthy Fever team last meeting.
Bet: Kiki Iriafen to get a double double (+130 on FanDuel)
Game: Mystics vs. Valkyries
Second-year player Kiki Iriafen has quickly established herself as one of the more dominant presences under the basket, ranking fourth in the league in rebounds at 9.4 per game, up nearly one full board from her rookie year.
She has 10 double doubles in 20 games this season, also finishing just 1 point or rebound shy in four other games.
Coming off the worst game of her professional career (2 PTS, 5 REB), she projects for 12.8 points and 9.3 rebounds, the latter of which is the highest on the slate.
The Valkyries have a top defense in the league which should lead to contested and missed shots, directly giving us more chances at Kiki's boards.
