The probability shows you the chances Dimers projects for that bet to win 100 times out of 100. What makes an NBA Best Bet? 

Dimers finds favorable odds using data analytics and probability modeling. We generate in-house chances for every NBA game, forecasting outcomes for the moneyline (winner), point spread (margin), and total points (over/under).

Our NBA best bets pinpoint where the odds and probabilities don’t line up, highlighting +EV (positive expected value) opportunities. In plain terms: when the data says the likelihood of an event is higher than what the sportsbook’s odds imply, that’s a best bet.

For example, if a book lists the Lakers at +150 (implied 40% chance) to win, but our model gives them a 48% chance, you’ve got an 8% edge: value hidden in plain sight.

Playing for +EV is a different way of betting. Instead of asking who will win, you’re looking for prices that offer potential value relative to the probability of the outcome. Individual bets can still lose, but +EV betting focuses on identifying potential value across a larger sample of bets. 

Each Dimers NBA Best Bet includes a transparent edge rating and probability percentage alongside the best odds, so you can see how the model probability compares with the available price. 

• Probability: Dimers calculates probabilities for each bet independently of the sportsbook line. Our likelihoods are based on our machine learning projections, which use statistical analysis of team and player data matchup by matchup.
• Edge: The difference between the Dimers model probability and the implied probability of the best available odds. This is a percentage of how much positive expected value (+EV) we have found for this bet, meaning you can see how much this line is priced in your favor.
• Best Odds: The highest available sportsbook or prediction market price that we have found for this market. As well as calculating probabilities, our NBA model scans all markets and finds the best price available. The edge listed on each card is specific to this number, but Dimers Pro members can compare and see all odds with their corresponding edges for all providers on the market.

How our model finds the best NBA bets

Our NBA pre-match model uses machine learning to predict the final score for each team in every upcoming game. It then uses those projections to calculate probabilities for the moneyline, spread, and total points markets. 

The model combines five key inputs to build a data-driven view of the NBA slate:

• Player-level statistics: Rolling averages from recent games capture short-term form and longer-term performance trends.
• Opponent matchups: The model considers the opposing team, as well as the positions and players likely to face each other.
• Minute projections: Each player’s statistical impact is scaled according to their expected minutes, so contributions reflect their projected time on court.
• Home court advantage: The model accounts for the typical difference between playing at home and on the road.
• Confirmed availability: Only players expected to play are included, helping the model reflect realistic rotations and lineups.

By combining these inputs, the model produces an expected score for both teams. Those projected scores form the foundation for our market probabilities, helping identify where our numbers differ from the available betting lines and where potential value may exist.

Each market offers a different way to find potential value, depending on how our model’s projections compare with the sportsbook line. 

Here’s what an edge looks like across each market:

• Moneyline: The moneyline is based on which team wins the game outright. An edge exists when our model gives a team a higher probability of winning than the probability implied by the sportsbook’s odds. The larger the difference between those probabilities, the greater the potential edge identified by the model.
• Spread: The spread accounts for the expected margin of victory, with the favorite giving points and the underdog receiving them. An edge occurs when our projected margin differs meaningfully from the sportsbook’s spread. If our model expects a favorite to win by more than the listed spread, for example, that can indicate potential value on the favorite.
• Total: Total bets focus on the combined points scored by both teams, with bettors choosing over or under the sportsbook’s line. Our model projects a score for each team, allowing us to calculate an expected combined total. An edge exists when that projection differs meaningfully from the market line, indicating potential value on the over or under.
