FanDuel reveals Alberta launch plans ahead of July 13
FanDuel is entering Alberta with community investments, a renewed CFL partnership and exclusive casino content ahead of the province's July 13 launch.

FanDuel is making a strong push into Alberta ahead of the province's regulated online gambling launch on July 13.
The sportsbook and online casino operator has outlined its plans for the new market, announcing community investments, new partnerships and exclusive gaming content as it prepares to compete in Canada's second regulated iGaming province after Ontario.
Pending regulatory approval, Albertans will be able to access FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel Casino when the market officially opens.
FanDuel prepares for Alberta launch
FanDuel said Alberta represents an important milestone for its Canadian business as competition begins alongside operators including DraftKings, bet365, BetMGM and Caesars.
"Alberta represents an exciting new chapter for FanDuel Canada, and we look forward to the opportunity to bring our industry-leading casino and sportsbook experience to players across the province," said Dale Hooper, General Manager of FanDuel Canada, in a press release.
FanDuel said its platform will include sportsbook and online casino products, alongside educational resources covering sports betting, online casino gaming and responsible gambling.
Investing in Alberta communities
As part of its Alberta launch, FanDuel announced several community initiatives.
The company is donating:
- C$50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation to support mental health programs across Alberta.
- C$30,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Management Program in Alberta to support disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
FanDuel said the donations reflect its broader commitment to responsible gambling and community engagement as it enters the Alberta market.
Exclusive games and CFL partnership
FanDuel also announced an exclusive partnership with Light & Wonder that will bring the popular Huff N' Puff slot franchise to Alberta players, subject to regulatory approval.
The operator is also extending its partnership with the Canadian Football League into Alberta under a new multi-year agreement.
The expanded partnership will include both sportsbook and online casino activations, with the 2026 Grey Cup scheduled to take place at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.
FanDuel was also the title sponsor of this year's Cowboys Stampede Showdown Charity Poker Tournament, which raised C$260,000 for the Calgary Stampede Foundation.
Competition heats up in Alberta
FanDuel is one of more than 40 operators preparing to launch in Alberta's new regulated online gambling market.
The province is adopting a competitive model similar to Ontario's, allowing private operators to compete with the government-run Play Alberta platform, which is projected to generate C$76 million in revenue during its first year.
With major brands including DraftKings, bet365, BetMGM and Caesars also preparing to launch, Alberta bettors will have significantly more choice than ever before.
