Mystics vs. Sparks preview: How to bet surging Washington on rare WNBA back-to-back
The Washington Mystics play their first back-to-back of the season in the midst of their best stretch of the year - see what the Dimers data says about this matchup with the Sparks.

The Washington Mystics vs. Los Angeles Sparks matchup rounds out the WNBA betting slate on Friday, August 28, and for the Mystics, that stretch ends with a WNBA rarity and first for Washington this season: back-to-back games.
Unlike the NBA, back-to-backs are particularly sparse in the WNBA's spaced-out schedule and Washington caps off a four-game road trip with back-to-back games right before the three-week break for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.
Dimers' WNBA bets model has taken notice. Across our WNBA props board for Mystics-Sparks, the lean is almost uniformly toward the under, with five separate unders on rebounds and three more unders on points, all with a positive edge identified.
Unders alone aren't the story, either, as several of Washington's most productive scorers are projected well below their posted lines tonight, reflecting the nature of a compressed schedule for Washington.
Player to watch: Georgia Amoore
Following a career-high 25 points last night, Georgia Amoore is going to be a popular player to bet on in tonight's game.
She turned in a breakout performance and played the third-most minutes of her season doing it, heavy usage that now rolls directly into a back-to-back.
The Dimers WNBA Projections Hub has her leading Washington and tied for the most across the four-game slate in projected three-pointers at 3.0 which would carry significant betting value at +280 for 3+ on FanDuel, but her total points projection is at just 10.3 points, signaling caution on backing her for another career-level night.
Best Mystics-Sparks player prop value
The standout prop play on the board is Sonia Citron Under 16.5 Points Scored.
It's carrying a Dimers Sweet Spot signal with 16.0% positive ROI so far this season, a 61.6% probability, and one of the widest projection discrepancies gaps on the entire slate with our model projecting 13.0 points, over three points shy of the line.
Citron is a key contributor on this team, but it's Shakira Austin who's been pacing the team most nights, with Citron going under in four of her last five games.

Betting the game total
Even with player scoring projections running low across the board, Dimers still finds an edge on the Over 167.5 game total, a 56.1% probability play with another Sweet Spot that's returning over 14% ROI this season.
The edge only reaches Sweet Spot territory because of where it's available, with Novig pricing this line at just over a 50% probability (or -104 odds) and also providing a lower line of 166.5 while the standard sportsbooks are all sitting at worse odds, capping their edge at 4.6% or lower.

The Over case isn't hard to build on paper, either. Los Angeles has been one of the softest (14th-ranked) defensive units in the league, and Washington, managing its first-ever back-to-back, could easily shorten the rotation and rest pieces of its primary defensive unit with tomorrow's game in mind.
Lower individual scoring projections don't necessarily mean a lower-scoring game if the pace picks up and the defensive intensity on both ends is compromised, it just means the points get spread differently than the box score would suggest on a normal night.
