The WNBA playoff field is set, but which teams are being most undervalued by the market?

Are Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever's record-setting offense being undervalued ahead of the playoffs?

With all eight WNBA playoff teams now locked in, the WNBA futures market has settled into a familiar shape: one heavy favorite at the top, and a field of contenders looking to knock off the top seed underneath.

That favorite is the Minnesota Lynx, and on paper, it's easy to see why. Minnesota enters the postseason with the league's best record, a veteran core led by Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride, and a rookie sensation in Olivia Miles who has been one of the best players in basketball all year.

Sportsbooks have them as short as -120 to win it all, and the Dimers model, which runs thousands of season simulations combining team strength, matchup data, and live market inputs to craft our WNBA predictions, puts them at a 35% probability to claim the title, the highest by more than a 20% discrepancy.

So why are the Lynx not the bet to make?

Easy answer: the math doesn't line up.

A 35% probability translates to fair odds of roughly +185, meaning bettors are required to lay heavy juice on a team the model itself says shouldn't be nearly this short, even if they are rightfully favored. That discrepancy is where the Dimers model thrives, correctly picking last years Aces as the champion at midseason odds of +2000 .

The Lynx may be the best team in the league, but they are not the best bet.

The value in this year's title market lives elsewhere, with three teams the Dimers model says the market is underpricing.

Golden State Valkyries - 14.7% WNBA Championship win probability

As Dimers' second-most likely WNBA champion, the Valkyries have built their case on good, old-fashioned defensive dominance.

In just their second season of existence, Golden State owns the No. 1 scoring defense in the WNBA, allowing just 76.0 points per game, the only team in the league holding opponents under 80, and a full 7.2 points better than the next-closest team, the Washington Mystics.

That level of defensive separation tends to travel well into the playoffs, when possessions tighten up and offense gets harder to find against a scouted opponent, even in the midst of a league-wide scoring surge.

The catch is that the Valkyries' offense hasn't kept pace with their defense, meaning Golden State will need to find ways to keep pace with the higher-scoring offenses behind a surge of their own, rather than simply slowing down the other teams. Some of their most consistent offensive output comes off the bench with Janelle Salaun, regularly featured as a top three-point shooter in Dimers' WNBA projections.

But they've already shown they can do exactly that: Golden State owns wins over both other value contenders in this piece, plus a notable recent victory over Minnesota itself.

At +850 odds on BetMGM against a 14.7% model probability (implying fair odds closer to +580), the Valkyries look like the market's biggest inefficiency behind the Lynx, only this time in bettors' favor.

Indiana Fever - 12.3% WNBA Championship win probability

Indiana was a Dimers preseason favorite for value at shorter odds of +550, and even after getting longer with a lower probability, the Fever still retain an edge.

They rank top five by sportsbook odds and carry Dimers fair odds of roughly +713 against their current price of +1100 on FanDuel, a significant enough gap that suggests the sportsbooks haven't fully caught up to the model's confidence in this roster.

Caitlin Clark (3rd), Kelsey Mitchell (2nd) and Aliyah Boston (14) all rank at the top of the league in scoring, forming the league's best offensive trio.

The public is a little more confident, with Indiana trading at 14% probability to win on Polymarket, where they are the second-highest probability.

The offense needs little hype; Indiana has fielded a record-setting offensive unit this season. But that firepower has been paired with real defensive inefficiency and Indiana is the only team that ranks in the bottom half of the league defensively to make the playoffs, allowing more than 90 points per game.

That split makes them a boom-or-bust proposition in a short series, capable of outscoring anyone on a given night but vulnerable to a team that can slow them down and run away with a game on a bad shooting night for the Fever.

For bettors comfortable with that volatility, the price still looks generous relative to the model.

Dallas Wings - 4.3% WNBA Championship win probability

Dallas is the longest shot of the three, but also arguably the most mispriced. when comparing fair price to the best available odds of +8000 on BetMGM.

Like the Fever, the Wings were a Dimers preseason value pick at half these odds (+4000) and a lower probability around 3%, meaning the model actually likes this team more now than it did before the season, despite the sportsbooks moving the other direction.

The profile fits that of a contender: Dallas is good across the board, defensively, offensively, from three-point range and more, though without a standout strength that gives them an "X-factor", but this is a team that has shown real improvement over last season's group that finished at the bottom of the standings.

The complicating factor is the loss of rookie standout Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick, who is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery in August.

Fudd was averaging 13.1 points per game and had emerged as a key two-way piece before the injury, and her absence caps Dallas's realistic ceiling this postseason, even behind star Paige Bueckers, Most Improved Player candidate Jessica Shepard and resurgent scorer Arike Ogunbowale.

A title is likely still a few years and a few key pieces away, which our 4.3% probability reflects. But that number still implies fair odds of just +2225, nowhere near the +8000 currently on the board. If Dallas can string together even one or two playoff wins, expect this number to collapse in a hurry.
