“Spoiled.” This is the one word that may come to a person’s mind when thinking about Boston sports fans over the past two decades. The Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics have had amazing regular seasons to this point, with both being top contenders in each of their respective leagues.
Coming off their loss to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, the Celtics picked right back up where they left off. Start small forward Jayson Tatum has been one of the favorites for the NBA Most Valuable Player Award throughout the entirety of the season. Bertuzzi has already proven to be a great fit with new linemate Charlie Coyle, assisting Coyle’s goal against the New York Rangers in his first game at TD Garden this past Saturday.
The Bruins opting to make these moves not only improves their team, but it also counteracts some of the trades that their biggest competitors in the Eastern Conference made at the trade deadline as well. The New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs were two teams in particular who made a lot of noise at the deadline. The Rangers acquired star wingers Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko, while the Maple Leafs brought in former Conn Smythe (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP Award) winner Ryan O’Reilly.
