Sports Bettors Wagering Big on Jiri Prochazka to Beat Glover Teixeira at UFC 275 

Jiri Prochazka is a large favorite on the oddsboard and an extra-large favorite among BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse bettors as the headliner at UFC 275 Saturday in Singapore. 

The Czech’s odds are -210 even though his opponent, Glover Teixeira of Brazil (+165), holds the light heavyweight championship belt. Prochazka, 29, has drawn 95 percent of the handle and 73 percent of the wagers to end Teixeira’s reign.

Upsets occurred at the past four UFC main events in which the defending champions were underdogs. The public’s skepticism toward Teixeira might be related to him recently winning his first title at age 42 and facing a knockout artist whose 10-bout victory streak consists entirely of KOs and TKOs. 

His money-line support represents 45.9 percent of the entire pool on the card. The most sizable wager is $6,000 on him at -200. 

The public also is not far from unanimous on whether the bout goes the distance, with 89.5 percent of the handle anticipating a judge’s decision.

The most lopsided favorite on the card is Valentina Shevchenko at -670 in her seventh defense of the women’s flyweight belt. Because of the steep price, she has attracted a relatively small 61 percent of the handle versus Talia Santos (+450). Shevchenko has entered her last four fights backed by at least 85 percent of the handle. 

With underdogs taking the two latest women’s championship fights, Santos has pulled in 4.6 percent of the card’s handle, the fifth most of any wager offered. 

Bettors are leaning toward Zhang Weili at -180 against Joanna Jedrzejczyk (+145) in an encore of the 2021 Fight of the Year. Of the tickets sold on the non-title match, Zhang Weili has generated 60 percent, along with 79 percent of the money. 

The favorites are ultra-popular in the other two main event bouts. Manel Kape (-235) has lured 96 percent of the handle and 78 percent of bets against Rogerio Bontorin (+183), while Jack Della Maddalena (-157) is at 98 and 86 percent versus Ramazan Emeev (+126)
