Sharp Sports Bettors on O’Ward and Rossi to Win the 106th Running of the Indy 500

The Indianapolis 500 runs for the 106th time this Sunday, May 29, 2022 and our auto racing betting expert has previewed the event.

Dimers.com's Brad Montagne covers his favorites - and favorite pastimes - when attending the famous race.

My picks to win the race are Pato O’Ward at +800, and if you’ve got eyes on a longshot, take Alexander Rossi at +1750.

O’Ward was the 2020 IRL Rookie of the Year and posted the 7th fastest qualifying time for this weekend’s race, two seconds behind pole-sitter Scott Dixon at +500.

O’Ward, from Mexico, has been offered a test with the McLaren Team of Formula 1, a distinction no other driver in the Indy field has enjoyed and if he wins the IRL title this year, he’ll get the call up.

In the most wide-open Indy 500 field in years, Rossi has won the race previously, as a rookie even in 2016, and knows how to keep out of trouble at the Brickyard.

Having been to the Indy 500 before, let me tell you that 200 laps around this giant oval can get a little monotonous. However, in person there is a cure for the boredom and it's called The Snake Pit.

The Snake Pit is a giant dance party in the middle of the track. Most of the Snake Pit partiers don’t even know there is a race swirling around on the track that surrounds them.

DJs who’ve played the Snake Pit before include Steve Aoki and Dedmau5. The excellent Martin Garrix headlines this weekend's edition.

Special effects using fire and dry ice, along with scantily clad dancers and plenty of cocktails have a way of alleviating the boredom of the middle of the race; then make your way to the big screen to see the finish and collect on your bets!
