Predictive Analytics Model and Expert Golf Picks To Win 2022 TOUR Championship

Predictive Analytics Model and Expert Golf Picks To Win 2022 TOUR Championship

The FedExCup Playoffs conclude this week, with the Top 30 golfers from the season battling it out at East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia.

The final tournament of the season begins on Thursday, August 25th, 2022 and will run until Sunday, August 28th, and this is going to be some must-see action for golf fans and avid sports bettors.

After a long season of the PGA TOUR, the finale is here, with the 30 competing golfers given starting scores based on their performance, ranging from Scottie Scheffler at -10 down to six golfers starting the week at even par.

Although it's possible to bet on who will score the best over the course of the 72 holes this weekend, our favorite bets of the weekend come via the handicap system, with one bet at the bottom of this page for the 72-hole winner.

Here, we look at some of the best bets ahead of this week's PGA event.

2022 TOUR Championship Best Bet to Win

Scottie Scheffler (+225)

A boring pick? Maybe. The most likely man to win? Definitely.

26-year-old Scottie Scheffler has established himself as one of the most consistent golfers in the world this year, making 20-of-24 cuts, with four wins, three seconds and 10 Top 10 finishes.

With that consistency in mind and the fact that Scheffler already has a two-stroke advantage over the next nearest guy, it's hard to see him not closing the FedEx Cup out with a win.

Coming off an impressive T3 at last week's BMW Championship, Scheffler should be able to play the style of golf that holds off his competitors as he rounds out what has been one of the best seasons on the TOUR we've seen in a few years.

2022 TOUR Championship Value Pick To Win

Cameron Smith (+2500)

After simulating this week's action 10,000 times, our model has identified Australian Cameron Smith as the man presenting the most value, with his implied fair odds of +1700 making him a much more likely winner than the books' odds of +2500 would suggest.

Smith will start the week six shots behind Scheffler, but that shouldn't worry him too much, with his Open Championship victory last month seeing him come back from the same deficit in just one day of play.

After starting Sunday's action at St Andrews six shots behind Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland, Smith played aggressive golf to land birdie after birdie, finishing the day's play with a score of -8.

Smith is no stranger to playing golf in that manner and will likely see a big start on Thursday as his best chance of claiming the massive cash prize that comes along with the title of the FedEx Cup Champion.

2022 TOUR Championship 72-Hole Winner Pick

Cameron Young (+2200)

As mentioned above, we're also able to bet on who will score the best 72-hole score this week, disregarding the starting handicaps each player has been given.

And for this this market, we're eyeing off one of the strongest performers this season, Cameron Young.

Young has someone managed to secure five second-place finishes this season without a win.

And although it will be tough for him to make up the required seven shots to catch Scheffler, he could still manage to get the best 72-hole score for the first time this season.

Young comes into this week with little pressure to win the overall tournament, along with a pair of second-place finishes in his last four starts.
