Free NHL Picks - Saturday May 14, 2022

Bruins vs. Hurricanes Game 7, 4:30PM (ET)

PICK: Over 5.5 Goals (-130)

What can I say I haven’t already said about the Canes and the B’s series? Every game has been a blowout. That’s strange. Incredibly strange for the Stanley Cup playoffs. The goal differential in each game has been three plus five out of the six games. Not only that, but every game has been six goals or more. Which, of course, brings us to our bet. We will ride this wager until it bucks us, and it won’t be bucking us.

Assuming the Bruins and Canes don't stop taking stupid penalties, as they haven’t all-season or now in the playoffs. I don't see what stops this from going over again. You have the same goalies and players, and frankly, both teams' special team play is due for an uptick in performance, which, of course, will lead to more goals.

So, unless the goalies suddenly do something they haven’t done all series, this total is going over once again.

Lighting vs. Maple Leafs Game 7, 7:00PM (ET)

PICK: Lightning moneyline (+105)

This series has been a back-and-forth affair. Literally, the Leafs and Lightning have traded every other game up to this point. Can Tampa reverse the trend, or will Toronto win their first series since 2004? I have to roll with the Lightning until I watch Toronto end that streak with my own eyes.

It doesn’t help their cause that they are playing the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs. Sure, Toronto is at home, but that hasn’t helped them in the past. Hell, the lead doesn’t even help them. For example, in the 2012-13 playoffs, they had a 4-1 lead with 11 minutes left in game seven versus the Bruins, and… They lost. Choking is what Toronto does, and they do it better than anyone else.

Another thing to mention, I still don’t believe Campbell can outduel Andrei Vasilevskiy. I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Take the bolts and laugh as the Leafs bungle another playoff series.

Kings vs. Oilers Game 7, 10:00PM (ET)

PICK: Total goals UNDER 7 (-200)

The final game seven of the night, Kings Oilers. This one is tricky—the most unpredictable series of them all. Going in, I thought the Kings were the most likely candidate to get an upset of all the series. While I still feel that way, I am less confident in their ability. They still have trouble finishing, and that Edmonton power play seems to be too much for them to handle.

After reviewing each game individually, I’ve decided not to go with a side but a total. Four out of the six games so far have come under seven goals. While this entire playoff has been high-scoring, I expect the Kings to play a tighter checking game than usual, which will keep the game a little closer. Plus, since it is

a game seven, I think we can safely expect more discipline play between these two, limiting both teams' power-play opportunities. This will be huge for us.

Take the under, and let's finish the night off on a high note.
