Raiders vs. Rams Odds and Betting Lines

Why Raiders Will Cover The Spread

The Rams might not have enough offense to keep up with the Raiders. Los Angeles will be relying on either John Wolford, Bryce Perkins or the recently-acquired Baker Mayfield at quarterback on Thursday. None of those options can be considered inspiring, but that's especially true against a Las Vegas team that has scored a total of 67 points over the last two weeks.

The Raiders have also covered in each of their last three games and have to be feeling a lot better as a group now. They're now firmly back in the playoff mix, but the Rams have seen their season slip away. That difference in mentalities can be hard to ignore.

Why Rams Will Cover The Spread

For as bad as this season has been for Los Angeles, the team did go out and play a very competitive game against the Seattle Seahawks last week. The Rams are still a well-coached group and the Raiders haven't exactly proven themselves as a road team this year.

Las Vegas is just 2-5 straight-up and 3-4 against the spread on the road this year, despite winning and covering in each of its last two games away from home. And considering the way Cam Akers has been running the football, the Rams should be able to chew some clock and keep the Raiders offense on the sidelines for a bit.

It should also be noted that this is a lot of points to be giving a team that is coming off a Super Bowl win, even if the team is a lot different and worse than last year's group. Also, with this being a Thursday game, Josh Jacobs might not be able to get as much treatment done on his injured calf as usual.

Why The Over Will Hit

The Over has hit in three of the last four games that the Rams have played, with Los Angeles actually combining to score 50 points in a meeting with Seattle last week. Now, the Rams host a team that is better offensively than the Seahawks are, and they'll do so in a game with an extremely low point total.

As long as Los Angeles scores multiple touchdowns here, the Over is going to have a good chance of hitting.

Why The Under Will Hit

While the Over would likely hit if the Rams score two or three touchdowns in this game, there's really no guarantee that'll happen with their current quarterback situation. They also have one of the worst offensive lines in football at the moment, which isn't a good thing when hosting a Raiders defense that boasts some elite pass rushers.

Las Vegas is also a team that wants to pound away with Jacobs, so the Raiders could also be playing an offensive style that sees them doing their part in running the clock.

It also doesn't hurt potential Under bettors that this is a Thursday night game. There will be a lot of guys playing banged up and neither team has a full week to prepare for this one.

Raiders vs. Rams Prediction

Lean: Under 43.5

Our model likes this game to be lower in scoring and it's not hard to see why. The Raiders might be explosive offensively, but they do like to run the ball and that will take some time off the clock. The Rams also don't have many ways to put up a lot of points.
