As recently as 2019, Lamar Jackson won the MVP at ridiculous starting odds of +10000, showing there is reason to bet on some sleepers for the NFL MVP every year!
2021 NFL MVP Favorites🏆
Patrick Mahomes (+500)
Mahomes enters the season as betting favorite for the MVP once again and it's not hard to see why.
Patrick Mahomes II will turn 26 in the first couple of weeks of the season, which probably means his best is yet to come. Yep, we may not have even seen the peak of the man who has already won an MVP and Super Bowl MVP. Scary stuff.
The Chiefs and their QB will be out to rectify what was a disappointing end to last season, when they lost the Super Bowl to the Bucs despite being favorites to win it every single day of the year.
With that in mind, there's a chance that Andy Reid and his men focus on getting to the Big Dance again and may not be going all out throughout the season, meaning Mahomes' odds of +500 seem a little too short at this point!
Aaron Rodgers (+1000)
Last year's MVP, Aaron Rodgers, comes in as second favorite as we approach the 2021 NFL season, having experienced quite the off-season!
Rodgers began last season at +2200 and didn't really become favorite for the award until the final two or three weeks of the regular season.
Even though he ended up staying, there was simply too much drama around the 'will he, won't he' these past few months to justify taking the +1000 odds available with most books!
Tom Brady (+1200)
TB12 is the GOAT, there's little doubting that now. But when it comes to the MVP award for this season, his odds aren't quite high enough.
Similarly to Mahomes and the Chiefs, it's likely that the Bucs will be priming themselves for a postseason push, meaning that the 44-year-old QB may not be too worried about going all out every week of the regular season.
Despite the undoubted talent of these three favorites, this seems like a year that we should be looking down the board for some value. Scroll down for some of our favorite plays to make this pre-season!
2021 NFL MVP Value Picks💰
Josh Allen (+1300)
Our top pick for the 2021 NFL MVP is none other than Buffalo Bills QB, Josh Allen. Allen has improved every season he's been in the league and if he continues on this trajectory, he's going to be a consensus Top-3 QB come season's end.
The Bills will be out to improve on their 13-3 record from last season and if they're to do so, the partnership of Allen and Stefon Diggs is going to play a major role.
At 13/1, Allen presents the best value of the superstar QBs and at 25 years of age, should be coming into his prime as he looks to guide the Bills Mafia to glory in 2021!
Justin Herbert (+2000)
Prior to Rodgers' 2020 win, the last two MVP winners were both second-year QBs when they won it and Justin Herbert is a serious threat to get that trend back on track.
Herb already has one of the best arms in the league and his eye-catching passes can be absolutely ridiculous.
The Bolts would have to make a jump from last season’s record of 7-9, but if they do, Herbert will be right up there in MVP discussions.
Kyler Murray (+2300)
The Cardinals young quarterback was one of our top value picks for the MVP last season and it didn't quite pan out how Kyler bettors were hoping.
But now, as we look towards the 2021 season, Murray is back on our radar as one of the best dual threat QBs in the league.
Kyler forms half of one of the best QB-WR duos in the league with DeAndre Hopkins, whilst also rushing for the second most yards of all QBs last season (behind only 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson).

Baker Mayfield (+2600)
The Browns had a very non-Browns season in 2020 and now they're one of the more popular dark horse picks for the Super Bowl this season.
If Cleveland can top the AFC North, a lot of that will be down to Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett, but the MVP chat will likely go to the QB, who matured on the field in a big way last season.
The Browns kick off their season with a tough trip to Kansas City but then have 10 games in a row that they will definitely see as winnable. If they can get off to a hot winning start, Baker's odds will come in from +2600 pretty quickly!
Trey Lance (+7500)
Now, this is a proper flyer of a pick, but Trey Lance is going to win an MVP one day. Bank it.
It's not impossible that he steals the starting QB spot from Jimmy G before Week 1 of the NFL season, and if he does, he's going to be playing with an accomplished team that are confident of jumping back into Super Bowl contention this season.
Trey's odds won't stay around +7500 for long once he starts putting some games together, so we're keen to throw some pizza money behind him whilst the 75/1 is still available!
2021 NFL MVP Sleepers🔮
Since Tom Brady’s first MVP back in 2007, quarterbacks have won all but one MVP (shoutout Adrian Peterson).
So who are the best non-QBs in the running for an unlikely MVP win? We have three names here that might tickle your fancy if you’re looking to win big on long odds.
Two of the best running backs in the league, McCaffrey and Henry are at juicy odds (even if they are still half the odds of Jackson in 2019) to become the first RB to win the award since Adrian Peterson in 2012.
Both the Panthers and Titans are longshots to win Super Bowl LVI, but if either are to make a push then these two guys are going to be vital. If you’re thinking the run of QB dominance may be coming to an end, then these dudes may be the bets for you.
It would take a minor miracle for a receiver to win the MVP, but if it's going to happen, these are the guys that could do it!
At +12000, they're both worth a flyer, especially if you already have one of them in your fantasy team (or if you missed them by one pick and want to make up for it!).
Next up we're looking at the best defensive chances to take out the 2021 NFL MVP award, with 3x DPOY, Aaron Donald and 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year, Chase Young.
For one of Donald or Young to win, they would have to become the first defensive player to take out the award since 1986 (Lawrence Taylor) but who better than one of these two guys, who are constantly making highlight reels even from the defensive end!
These guys are for sure worth a small wager as a fun bet to ride all season.
Last (and to be honest, probably least) we have a couple more RBs at the longest odds we're willing to entertain this season.
Both Chubb and Kamara (see below) have the potential to blow a game apart and if either can help their side to 13+ wins, their names will definitely be brought up in MVP discussions.
