Best MLB Bets Today

Rangers vs. Astros, 2:10PM ET

It's been something of a run fest between these two teams so far this series with both games thus far heading over the prescribed total from the 'books - but you know what they say about streaks: they're made to be broken.

The Astros possess the second best run defense in the MLB and will be sending out one of their best pitchers in Framber Valdez (10-4, 2.87 ERA) to combat rookie pitcher Cole Ragans for his second start of the year.

Ragans was damn impressive in his debut on August 4, not giving up an earned run through 5 innings against the White Sox. Of course, he'll have a battle on his hands against this Houston hitting rotation, but you can count on this game being a little tighter than the games that have come before it this week.

Cardinals vs. Rockies, 3:10PM ET

We've given a lot of crap to Germán Márquez (6-9, 5.18 ERA) this year, but credit where credit is due: he's had a pretty good month. Márquez has held a steady 3.28 ERA over his last four starts.

While that hasn't exactly translated to wins (his record is 1-2 in those four starts), he does have a chance to turn it around today against the Cardinals and a pitcher who has not had a good month in Dakota Hudson (6-6, 4.20 ERA).

Hudson hasn't been able to get a win since June and has been wayward with a 5.40 ERA over that same span with just 6 strikeouts in his last 15 innings pitched. The Rox have a chance today so take the plus-money at DraftKings.

Pirates vs. Diamondbacks, 3:40 pm ET

JT Brubaker (2-10, 4.49 ERA) is having a year to forget for the Pirates who have now lost their last five games that Brubaker has started in. Not only is he giving up runs at will with a 5.06 ERA over his last four appearances, but he's being chewed up in games early and exposing the bullpen with the majority of the game left.

This DBacks team is nothing really special, but Merrill Kelly (10-5, 2.86 ERA) has been a highlight on the mound. If the Arizona hitters can attack Brubaker, Kelly can provide the necessary defensive support to ensure an easy W.
