Free MLB Picks for Sunday May 8, 2022

Pirates vs. Reds, 1:40PM ET

This series is fun to bet on because it's so damn predictable. Two bad teams, two bad defenses equals a lot of runs. After Friday's postponed game, the Pirates and Reds combined for 24 runs through Saturday's doubleheader, with both games going over the total set by the sportsbooks. Today it feels like more of the same deal with Zach Thompson (9.39 ERA) and Tyler Mahle (7.01 ERA) set to get us off the perfect start in the early innings.

Athletics vs. Twins, 2:10PM ET

Things are not lining up well for the A's today who have taken some bad beatings the last four times starting ace Daulton Jefferies has been sent to the bump Jefferies form has been more concerning in his last two starts specifically, giving up 6 and 5 runs respectively. If those two performances are the norm, then the 17-11 Twins have a great opportunity to win big.

Marlins vs. Padres, 4:10PM ET

The Marlins spent their Saturday thumping the Padres to the tune of 8-0 in San Diego yesterday, but the sportsbooks are expecting a different story with Joe Musgrove commanding the mound for the Friars today. Musgrove has been great all year, but even despite the 1.97 ERA, his opposition in Trevor Rogers (6.14 ERA), paired with both teams averaging close to 5 runs scored per game over each of their last 10 games, and it just doesn't make any sense to not attack the over with the total set at 6.5 runs.
