MLB Betting Trends Friday June 24, 2022: Who's Hot, Who's Not and Where You Should Bet

Betting on baseball is all about knowing who's hot and who's not.
Dimers.com contributor Tony Bellissimo tours both camps in the Friday June 24, 2022 edition of MLB: Who's Hot and Who's Not.

Which MLB team is hot right now?
The San Francisco Giants had an amazing 2021 and continue to show it was no fluke. They picked up where they left off, opening this season 20-12 before coming back to Earth a bit as the Dodgers and Padres set the pace atop the NL West.
Alex Cobb has been the unluckiest pitcher in MLB this season. I analyze the issues he has faced, and conclude that while Cobb’s predictive statistics may be imperfect measures of how good he has been, he warrants being added in all fantasy league formats.https://t.co/q9Zc0TsvHZ

Now San Francisco is amped up again and back in the picture with a record of 38-31 despite a loss to the red-hot defending champion Braves on Thursday afternoon. The Giants begin an 8-game homestand Friday night against Cincinnati and will give Alex Cobb (3-2, 5.62 ERA) the nod.
Which MLB team is cold right now?
The Seattle Mariners won 90 games last season and were in the AL wild-card race entering the final day. They added some pieces during the winter, including reigning Cy Young winner Robbie Ray in free agency and Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winkler via trade.
However, Seattle has been much more fizzle than sizzle thus far sitting seven games under .500. The Mariners are 5-7 in their last 12 and continue a road swing against the Angels, who took 3 of 4 from them last week. Seattle had nothing going offensively Thursday in a 2-1 win in Oakland.
Only the Seattle Mariners would basically get no hit an entire game…

Then score 2 runs in the 9th off wild pitches 😂 #SeaUsRise @MarinersONtap pic.twitter.com/i7iodcPbMu
The Mariners had no hits until the 8th inning and scored on wild pitches. They’ll try their luck against Michael Lorenzen Friday after rocking him June 17 for seven runs in five innings.
MLB players: Who is in hot form?
Oakland’s Cole Irvin has only two wins in 11 starts this season but deserves better and is worth a hard look Friday night against Kansas City. Irvin’s first full season in the majors in 2021 went fairly well and he’s reaping the benefits from the experience of those 178 innings.

He has a 3.14 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 43 strikeouts in 63 innings. He gave the Royals a hard time in his last start but received zero run support in a 2-0 loss.
MLB Players: Who is out of form?
The Colorado Rockies are 5-8 in 13 games started by German Marquez, who toes the rubber Friday night against the visiting Nationals. Marquez is beginning to amp up his strikeout rate, fanning 20 over his past three starts, but his ERA (6.16) and WHIP (1.55) are as inflated as gas prices.
No starting pitcher has been more expensive at home this season than German Marquez.

He's back on the mound for the Rockies vs. the Padres tonight 🧐 pic.twitter.com/XfY2njw41i
His career ERA of 4.43 isn’t too impressive, and nowadays he’s allowing more than a run and a half more per game.
