Man Cashes Out for $250,000 on Winning $1 Million College Football Ticket

Man Cashes Out for $250,000 on Winning $1 Million College Football Ticket

On Saturday morning, if someone told you that you could turn a $7.16 bet into $252,130 it wouldn't even be a question about taking the money and running as fast as you could.

On Saturday night, one man did exactly that, cashing out a 25-leg College Football parlay with just one leg remaining for a cool quarter-million. The only problem? The final leg - Texas A&M to cover against Miami Florida - cashed. Meaning that the cashed out ticket was actually worth $1,016,045.37.

Ouch? Or good decision?

If you’re looking to bet on college football, then you should consider signing up with DraftKings ➡️ here ⬅️ as you can turn a $5 bet on any game into a free $200 instantly, even if your bet doesn't hit. It's the perfect way to build some bankroll to try and hit a $1M parlay yourself.

The mammoth bet started to gain traction on social media on Saturday night when user @doritos_cv posted a screenshot of his slip, placed with FanDuel Sportsbook, to former podcast host and former NFL punter, Pat McAfee. Once McAfee retweeted the play to his 2.6 million followers, all eyes of the gambling world were on the remaining two plays on the night to cash in the once-in-a-lifetime play: Michigan State-Washington Over 56.5 points, and Texas A&M -6.5 in a bounce back spot against Miami Florida at Kyle Field.

With the Spartans and Huskies motoring at a rapid pace to the 57-point total for a near-certain cash on leg number 24, and a $132,000 cashout offer in front of him, the bettor made the decision to not leave anything to chance with the final play of the night in College Staion, which was still in the early stages of the game, electing to take the cash out.

Frustratingly (but somewhat fortuitously), FanDuel Sportsbook's system initially refused the cashout offer.
As precious time was starting to burn, the system issues ended up working in favor of the self-proclaimed time traveller with the cashout offer eventually accepting for $252,000 as the Aggies held a 10-3 lead late in the first quarter.
With the bag secured, all the cashout winner could do now is sit and watch as A&M would go on to score early in the second half to establish a 17-3 lead, eventually holding on to win 17-9 and cover the spread that would have won the bettor more than a million dollars. While that might be enough to send some of us to an early grave, this his credit, he was philosophical and grateful to even be in the position that he found himself in.
Did @doritos_cv make the right decision, or did he miss a golden opportunity? It's hard to say given the circumstances at the time of the cashout, not to mention how he would have felt if Miami did end up coming back into the game to cover (they did have an opportunity for a backdoor cover late in the game). One thing is for sure, FanDuel Sportsbook definitely dodged a bullet.
The final ticket, in full:
