International Bookmakers Turning Their Attention To The Netherlands

In October 2021, The Netherlands was added to a long list of countries in Europe that legalized online gambling allowing both casinos and bookmakers online to offer their gambling products to Dutch consumers of 18 years and older.
The Dutch iGaming source CasinoScout.nl is delighted that international operators have found their way to the Netherlands as it has revolutionized the market and increased competition. Backed by years of experience and fully operational platforms, international brands have shown to adapt easily, putting pressure on the market share of local brands.
“CasinoScout.nl: International Operators Dominating the Dutch market”
Out of 27 licenses issued by the Dutch gaming regulator, only 10 are owned by a Dutch operator. International brands have shown their dominance in the market which is believed to be thanks to the experience and knowhow that already existed before entering the market in the Netherlands. Local brands, however, have only started building their platforms and knowledge base after October 2021. Among the international brands available in country today, the following operators can be found:
Kindred Group
Going strong since 1997, Sweden based Kindred enjoys an international reputation for offering a wide array of online betting products, including sports betting, casino, live casino, and online poker. Available in the Netherlands since July 2022 with their most popular Unibet-brand, Kindred is now believed to be the market leader in the Netherlands.
Hillside Limited
One of the very first offshore operators to enter the Dutch market is Hillside Limited, mostly known for Bet365. This brand was also used for the Dutch market when they launched their site in October 2021. Like in other regions, Bet365 offers a one stop shop including a casino, live casino, and sports betting. Their sports offer is their most popular category.
Tonybet
Founded by the successful poker player Tony G, TonyBet is expected to launch their website in the Netherlands in Q4 2023. Interestingly, TonyBet Casino already obtained their license in November 2021, but they are yet to launch their website for Dutch players.
VBet
Vbet has been live in the Netherlands since August 11, 2023 and is limited to offering online sports betting; other categories are expected to be added in the future. VBet was established in 2003 and enjoys more than 20 years of experience in the industry.
Entain
Entain, operating from the Isle of Man and known for some of the industry’s most popular brands such as Bwin, is also active in the Netherlands. BetCity was one of the first Dutch based brands to launch their website in October 2021 but was acquired by Entain in 2022.
