Betting Preview for the 2022 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix

Following a two-week absence, Formula 1 returns for the first leg of a season-ending double header this weekend, with the Brazilian Grand Prix. Run at Interlagos, the third shortest track on the F1 schedule, and amongst the least taxing in terms of tyre wear, the Brazilian Grand Prix rarely fails to deliver overtakes aplenty, evidenced by Lewis Hamilton’s extraordinary victory from the tenth grid position in 2021.

This year’s Brazilian Grand Prix will once again include a Sprint Race on Saturday, as the FIA continues to assess the Sprint format for coming seasons.

Our Dimers.com F1 expert takes a look at the best bets for the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.

What’s at stake?

Though Max Verstappen and Red Bull have run away with this year’s Drivers’ and Constructors Cup championships, there remain several extremely competitive battles yet to be decided. In the Drivers’ Cup, Sergio Perez sits just five points ahead of Charles Leclerc for second place, while a total of 16 points separate George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Lewis Hamilton for fourth.

Looking at team standings, Alpine sits just seven points ahead of McLaren for fourth place, Alfa Romeo just four ahead of Aston Martin for sixth, and Haas just one ahead of AlphaTauri for ninth.

Brazilian Grand Prix Best Bets

Carlos Sainz finishes top four. No driver has been so negatively affected by factors out of his control in 2022 than Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who currently sits sixth in the Drivers’ Cup standings. Nonetheless, Sainz remains in striking range of a top four Drivers’ Cup finish by season’s end; look for the Spaniard to finish in the top four at Interlagos, positioning himself for a final charge next weekend.

Alpha Romeo locks up sixth in the Constructors Cup. Though Aston Martin have been nipping at their heals for weeks, Alpha Romeo has maintained a solid lead for sixth place in the Constructors Cup standings, and show no sign of slowing down. Given Valtteri Bottas’ sterling resume at Interlagos, Alpha Romeo seems likely to outscore Aston Martin sufficiently at the Brazilian Grand Prix to lock up the battle for sixth place once and for all.

Mick Schumacher out of the points. With the grand majority of Formula 1’s 2023 driver lineup confirmed, Haas’ Mick Schumacher remains the odd man out, and, with no guaranteed 2023 seat, Schumacher will be driving for his Formula 1 career at Interlagos. Alas, this has been the case for weeks, and the German has showed no signs of turning things around. Look for Schumacher to disappoint once again in Sao Paolo, all but eliminating his chances of returning
to Formula 1 in 2023.
