European Soccer 2021/22 Picks and Predictions Week Ending Jan 23, 2022

European Soccer 2021/22 Picks and Predictions Week Ending Jan 23, 2022

Prospector Sam is here with your free soccer picks for this weekend's European soccer action.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty sure Scandinavia does it right. No, I’m not talking about healthcare or the education system or the fact that they’ve created a completely homogeneous population that could allow any individual to hide in plain sight. I’m talking about taking the winter months off to do nothing but wait for the warmth to come.

Yes, my friend, if you read that and said “that sounds a lot like hibernation” you hit the nail on the head. Because I, Prospector Sam, have long advocated for human hibernation to be adopted universally. The winter months are cold, dark, and generally depressing aside from a small number of activities like skiing if you’re into that sort of thing. Otherwise, we’re all basically just keeping our head down and trying to survive, a natural darwinian instinct, from December to March. So why not just take that time to do nothing but sleep, relax, and prepare for the coming warm weather rather than trudging our asses out into the cold. If I ever become president (in which case many things have gone wrong but I digress), the first item on my list will be to pass the America Hibernates Act (AHA!) and make my dream a reality.

Until then, though, you and I are still working and so are all of the soccer players not living in the nordic tip of Europe, so let’s suck it up and win some money. ⤵️

Prospector Sam's soccer picks are proudly brought to you by Caesars Sportsbook.

Free Bundesliga Picks For Week 20, 2021-22

Frankfurt vs. Arminia Bielefeld: Friday Jan 21, 2:30PM EST

Arminia Bielefeld are not good. This team is most likely going to get relegated, and they still sit in the bottom 3 despite 2 wins and 2 draws over their last 4 matches. Good for them for picking up the pace, but it’s a bit of fools gold and I don’t expect them to hold up against better clubs. While Frankfurt are closer to the 7/11 version of a hot dog rather than a premium Fenway Frank (bonus points to me for that analogy, and if you don’t appreciate it I feel bad for you), they still have some talent and should be able to handle this side at home. So, at -130 on the money line for a team flirting with European spots, I think the value is very solid and worth taking a crack at. AB (I’m not sure they’re called that, but I simply don’t feel like typing their name again) were very close to losing to the worst team in the league at home last weekend, and Frankfurt should probably blow their doors off here. Grab the high value ML.

⛏️ PICK: Frankfurt moneyline (-130)

Free Belgian First Division Picks For Week 22, 2021-22

Oostende vs. Antwerp: Friday Jan 21, 2:30PM EST

This line doesn’t make any fucking sense, and is just another example of books not adjusting on leagues where the handle is small. And, as we like to do here in Prospector’s gold mine, we’re going to rob them blind for failing to do their job. Antwerp sit third in the Jupiler League on a great run of form, and looked lethal against Charleroi in their first game back after the break (a winner I also gave out, you’re welcome). Against 15th placed Oostende, a team with a -20 GD through 21 games, you’d think the line would be close to -160 or -170. But here, we get the visitors at -110, which is an absolutely crazy number for the gap between the two sides playing. Oostende have picked up points against some lower end teams, but get outclassed against teams higher in the table, and have lost 5 of their last 7 matches (with 0 goals in 4 of those). Antwerp have the quality to win this game by a comfortable margin, and standard odds is too good to pass up.

⛏️ PICK: Antwerp ML (-110)

Free Ligue One Picks For Week 22, 2021-22

Metz vs. Lyon: Sunday Jan 23, 7:00AM EST

Now it’s time to evolve. The last two picks have been all about finding value in the money line, but when the value isn’t there you have to get more creative. And, while the -140 ML for Nice is decent, Metz are just decent enough to scare me in this match so we’re going to pivot to the Nice Team Total. Metz aren’t so bad offensively, but they concede about 2 goals per game which means that this Nice side, currently sitting in 2nd, should be licking their chops. The Over 1.5 is decent at -128, and I think over 2.5 at +280 has some value as well given how bad Metz can be at times. This pick protects from a surprising offensive performance by the home side or a bad bounce or two, while still playing into the relative strength of Nice. Bet the visitors to find some goals on Sunday.

⛏️ PICK: Nice team total OVER 1.5 (-128) and OVER 2.5 (+280)

Free Serie A Picks For Week 22, 2021-22

AC Milan vs. Juventus: Sunday Jan 23, 12:30PM EST

This line is silly. Maybe even just plain stupid. Milan and Juventus are about the same price on the money line playing at the San Siro, which essentially means that the books think Juventus is a better side. The problem? That just isn’t the fucking case. Juve have been better as of late but they still sit 3 spots and 7 points behind AC Milan, who sport a +22 goal difference even after getting absolutely fucked by a referee in their midweek match. With a little extra fire in their belly after having 3 points stolen from them, playing at home, and generally just being a bit better than Juventus, I’ll GLADLY take +165 on them to win this game. I’d expect them to be closer to +110 or even money, and I think the line is way off for the body of work on the year. Don’t go crazy, but this has a ton of value paying out well into plus money.

⛏️ PICK: AC Milan moneyline (+165)
