England vs. USA Predictions & Best Bets World Cup Nov 25, 2022

For the second time in 12 years, England and the U.S will meet in the group stages of a World Cup after a 1-1 tie at South Africa 2010. England is now two points clear at the top of Group B after a comfortable win over Iran, just as the U.S picked up one point in a 1-1 tie with Wales.

We've put together our betting picks and best bets for the game between England and the U.S at Qatar 2022.

England vs. USA Predictions

The United States went ahead early in their Group Stage opening game against Wales, only to concede a late penalty which was converted by Gareth Bale, resulting in a 1-1 draw. England - one of the pre-tournament favorites to win the World Cup - are the strongest team in Group B and are riding high after a 6-2 win over Iran.

The United States will no doubt want all three points out of this contest but also know that 1 point would be acceptable with their final game against the Iranians a chance to claim a win and advance out of the group stages.

The DimersBOT World Cup prediction model doesn't see a whole lot of betting value on the board for this contest, detecting only a slight 0.8% edge on the United States to win at odds of +500.

England vs. USA Best Bets

Harry Kane to Score First

Despite an almost perfect performance against Iran, Harry Kane failed to score in the 6-2 win. The England captain assisted a goal for Raheem Sterling in that game, but he was never able to put together many efforts of his own as he hunts down Wayne Rooney’s all-time England goalscoring record of 53 goals.

Kane has 51 goals and needs only two more at these World Cup finals to equal Rooney’s record meaning he will be eager to get off the mark here. In fact, this may be his best chance at the World Cup to score after missing the target in the Iran match, given how Wales is a completely different test for England because of how most of its players play in the Premier League.

Kane is +270 to score first for England against the U.S and also -110 to score anytime. He should, at least, get a shot on target at -500.

THE PLAY: Harry Kane first goalscorer (+270 with BetMGM)

Bukayo Saka to Assist

Despite scoring twice in the win over Iran with two spectacular goals, we think this is the game in which Saka’s creative side may come out. Saka scored an excellent volley to get his first goal and then went on a solo run to make it two in the game for himself.

He is once again expected to line up in a front three with Kane and Sterling, and the aerial weakness from the U.S could mean Saka starts to whip the balls into players like Kane much more frequently. Either way, Saka is going to see much of the ball in the England attacks and his creative ability and overall intelligence could see him unluck the U.S defense on a bunch of occasions.

Saka has also now managed to put together seven assists this season, six of which have come in 14 Premier League games - only Kevin De Bruyne has assisted more goals in the Premier League this season with nine.

Christian Pulisic to Have 1 or More Shots on Target

It’s been a struggle for Christian Pulisic since his move to England with Chelsea back in 2019. The American has only 20 Premier League goals in 87 appearances for the Blues and he is continuing to be a concern for Chelsea with his lack of playing time.

Up against an England defense, however, he will be more than capable of getting some shots away on goal as he is used to playing against players like John Stones and Harry Maguire. Pulisic has not yet scored a goal against players in the England defense like Maguire and Luke Shaw, but he did score against Stones back in 2020 with a goal against Manchester City for Chelsea.

Although Pulisic struggled at times against Wales, he managed to assist the U.S goal for Timothy Weah. What’s more, his assist saw him sprint through the Welsh defense with ease and this could see him trouble the England backline if he can get his shooting cleats on instead.

THE PLAY: Christian Pulisic 1+ Shot on Target (-125 with BetMGM)
