College Football Week 4 - West Virginia vs. Oklahoma: Betting picks, predictions and oddsSep 24, 2021 at 8:48PM
Another Saturday of College Football is upon us and this week, Dimers.com college expert Ian Gold casts his eye over one of the biggest games of the day as West Virginia take on the Oklahoma Sooners.
Now what do we have here? A 55.5 point over/under in a flag football game? Oh baby rip me off a piece of that ABC night over action!
These aren’t your fathers Oklahoma or West Virginia offenses (yet), but they’re clearly competent enough to put points on the board and get to 56 total points. And in the Big 12, where tackling is optional and defensive backs play with an arm tied behind their backs, that’s a beautiful number for a primetime game!
West Virginia is hot off a 27-21 victory over ranked Virginia Tech, and worked out some offense kinks after pummeling Long Island University (seriously) 66-0. And while Steve Slaton isn’t coming out of that locker room Saturday, they’ve got plenty of weapons in the spread to dance around Oklahoma defenders for a few TDs. And West Virginia was the offense I was concerned about.
Oklahoma is waiting for Spencer Rattler to put it all together and look like the premier arm talent in the country, with some premier 5-star wide receivers at his disposal. It hasn’t happened yet, but I have little doubt it will. Lincoln Riley is the new quarterback whisperer, and Rattler is talented enough to be lofted to the Mayfield/Murray/Hurts pantheon.
It’s apparent that not impressing against Nebraska, and managing a meager 23 against that poor Cornhusker defense has diminished thoughts of Oklahoma’s potential. And while I’m not high on their College Football Playoff aspirations...we’re talking Big 12 here, and the Sooners are king of the powderpuff.
🥇 Pick: Total points OVER 55.5
