Bettors Split on UFC 275; Spread Means Little in NBA Finals; MLS Bettors Like the Look of Nashville SC Odds

On the eve of UFC 275, BetMGM released betting data showing value on underdogs Talia Santos, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rogerio Bontorin. At the top of the fight card, the result is split with the number of bettors favoring the underdog Glover Teixeira (+165) getting 54% and favorite Jiri Prochazka (-200) taking 66% of the handle.

According to BetMGM defending light-heavyweight champion Teixeira comes in with a record of 33-7-0 and at 42 years of age has 13 years on the 29-year-old challenger Prochazka

 

Prochazka, a native of the Czech Republic, got his shot at the title-holder Saturday night in Singapore by virtue of his 28-3-1 record, including victories in his last 13 bouts, the last a second round TKO win over Dominick Reyes on May 1.

Both fighters come in at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds but Prochazka has a four-inch reach advantage.

On the undercard, Valentina Shevchenko started as a -900 favorite but has fallen to -650 according to BetMGM. Considered by many the best pound-for-pound fighter in women’s MMA, Shevchenko carries a record of 22-3 into her flyweight division title defense vs. 19-1 Talia Santos, who at +425 is taking 84% of the bets and 78% of the handle.

Below that, underdog Joana Jedrzejczyk (+145) is getting 69% of the bets and the handle in her bout against Weilli Zhang (-175); Rogerio Bontorin (+185) is getting 88% of the ticket and 81% of the handle against Manel Kape and in the first bout of the evening, Jack Della Maddalena, the favorite at -165 is getting 62% of bets and 87% of the handle vs. underdog Ramazan Emeev (+140)

NBA FInals Game 4

Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the homesteading Boston Celtics tips off tonight.

BetMGM reports this morning that the Celtics, a 3.5-point favorite, are taking a whopping 72% of the bets and 81% of the handle. 

With games in this series decided by 16, 12 and 19 points, those favoring the Warriors aren’t seeing much value in taking the 3.5 points and are leaning heavily on the money line with the Western Conference champions garnering 78% of the bets and 69% of the handle at +145.

The most bet props, according to BetMGM are Celtics forward Jaylen Brown to score the first basket at (+400), Brown to make the first 3-pointer at (+1200) and the Warriors’ Klay Thompson to go over 20.5 points (-115).

 

MLS Futures: League Winner

Nashville SC, which opened at +2500 has drawn the attention of MLS championship bettors, who have place 1 in 5 bets on the club from Tennessee, dropping its odds to +2000, according to BetMGM. Philadelphia Union, which opened at +1600 and is now at +900 is taking 16.7%, along with the highest handle at 27.3% with the Seattle Sounders drawing 10% of tickets at +1800.

Los Angeles is the favorite at +475, followed by New York at +650. The Red Bulls, who host Charlotte Saturday afternoon, have the third highest handle draw at 11.8%.
