OK, get ready for a REALLY HOT take: while Anthony Davis is a very good player, he is not especially good at carrying a team. He couldn't do it in New Orleans, and by the looks of his first game back, he may not be able to do it in Los Angeles either.

Maybe that's really harsh on a guy who has been out for a while, but the NOLA history is legit, and our projections think the Mavs may continue to inflict more pain on these Lakers Saturday night after a big win against them on Thursday. No doubt Davis will turn in a better performance than the 2-10 FG effort off 17 minutes on Thursday, but the Mavs need to keep things rolling to consolidate their spot in the playoffs. At -120 odds, that's far too attractive to ignore while LA try to figure things out.
