The Pirates are flying high after two wins in a row against the Chicago Cubs over the weekend, but they'll face a much sterner test against one of the pre-season World Series favorites in the Padres.

We'll stay away from any moneyline or run line plays in this one in favor of the total which is looking quite low at just the 8 runs set by the sportsbooks.

For the Padres, Yu Darvish is the expected starting pitcher, but the Japanese native, who was plying his trade for the Cubs last year, has started the season giving up 5 earned runs from 10.2 innings pitched which indicates he still might be trying to find his rhythm to start the year. 

On the Pirates end, Trevor Cahill is starting on the mound, following up after shipping 7 runs against the Reds in four innings pitched last week. Our Magic 8 Ball says all signs point to the over.

Tigers @ Astros

The Athletics had the wood over Houston over the weekend, figuring out a way to quell their offensive power on the way to two back-to-back wins. The Astros will be looking to regain some form against a Detroit team who are on a bad losing streak. Our data projections is expecting a lot of runs to come at the expensive of the Tigers defense.

The A's travel to Arizona to take on the D'backs, and after Oakland's ability to limit Houston's offense firepower over the weekend, we're gleefully taking the Under here. The fact that both teams rank in the bottom half of the league for runs scored to open the season makes this a safe play.
