Mike Minor is starting for the Reds on the mound tonight, and he has been a pretty reliable man to fade over the course of this season with a 2-10 record to go along with an awful 6.44 ERA. The Nats are taking the opportunity to take on a bad pitcher by putting in a rookie to oppose him in the 24-year-old Cade Civalli. The 22nd overall pick in the 2020 draft will have his chance to impress after a pretty tidy couple of weeks for Washington's AAA affiliate, registering a 1.47 ERA over his last seven starts. Of course, the step up to the MLB is a whole new class altogether, but this is a good one to unleash him in considering the leaky form of Minor.

Rays vs. Red Sox, 7:10PM ET

The Red Sox are seeing their season slipping away with 6 losses from their last 7 games, but they do get a chance to get things back on track with a fresh series against the Rays and perhaps their best pitcher on current form taking to the mound in Michael Wacha (8-1, 2.28 ERA). The Sox ace is coming off a hot start in his last appearance on August 14 against the Yankees where he shut them out over 7 innings. A similar economical performance will give them the best possible chance of arresting their slide. The Rays, though, are no easy beats, and are a well structured team with a top 5 defense in the league. They'll be looking to their bullpen for this one with reliever JT Chargois getting the start. This is looking to be a low scoring contest.

Braves vs. Cardinals, 8:15PM ET

Two very good team in the Braves and Cardinals get their weekend series underway tonight, and you can be sure as hell expect a healthy amount of runs with both offenses averaging close to 7 runs per game each over their last 10 matches. The Cards will send José Quintana (4-5, 3.45 ERA) to the mound, while the Braves are going with Spencer Strider (7-4, 2.95 ERA). While both guys have had some nice numbers over the past month, it's hard to look past the offensive prowess of both teams with a total set at 7.5. The DimersBOT loves the over, big time.
