Astros vs. Phillies, 8:03PM ET
Much like the NLCS, the lesson to take out of the opening four games of this series so far is to expect the unexpected. While there are no prizes for guessing that the Astros would respond after being so soundly beaten in Game 3, just the way they did it in last night's Game 4 is something that nobody could have envisioned. So now we head to a really, really pivotal and decisive Game 5 that will result in one team needing just one more win to claim the world championship. But what can we expect?
Justin Verlander will be on the mound for the Astros. On paper he's their best pitcher, but in the World Series over the course of his career, he's not lived up to the hype with a 0-6 record with an ERA of 6.05. Optimism that he may have vanquished his World Series demons was squashed in Game 1 this year when he gave up 5 runs to the Phillies. Is this now a mental thing for Verlander? Can he step up when his team needs him most?
Noah Syndergaard was originally slated to get the start for Philadelphia in Game before a rain out allowed the Phils to reshuffle the deck and delay the former Angels and Mets' ace's appearance until tonight. In the preview for the original Game 3 we lamented about the fact that Syndergaard has been more impressive lately with just 1 ER in his last three starts but has shown that during the season things can get away from him quickly with some big run totals given up when he's started. With the Astros' hitters enjoying some nice form last night, could they run it up against Syndergaard?
Both pitchers will have a lot to prove, but so too will the opposing batting lineups - one of which is coming off a night where they've found themselves on the wrong side of history while the other is looking to keep their momentum rolling. Expect runs tonight.

Best MLB Prop Today
The Phillies couldn't register a single hit last night and they'll no doubt be looking to lock in tonight against Verlander - a pitcher who has had his struggles throughout the World Series in his career.
Zoning in on hits, we're going to combine two players from the Phils who will like their chances of getting on base against the Astros marquee pitcher in Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh
Harper has a career .375 average against Verlander and is the man who is putting the city of Philadelphia on his back right now. After his Game 3 heroics, he's a prime candidate to atone for Wednesday nights failings while Brandon Marsh has been known the frustrate Verlander with three career walks and a hit from 6 plate appearances. Marsh was sensational in Game 3 and should be respected tonight.
BET: Harper and Marsh 1+ Hit (+203). Want to tail this pick? Do it with DraftKings Sportsbook and get a nice bonus while doing so by clicking ➡️ here ⬅️.
