Predictions and bets for Grizzlies v Blazers

August 15, 2020 4:27 PM

We are almost there! The NBA Playoffs tips off early next week, but first there is a small matter of the 8 v 9 Western Conference play-in series between Portland and Memphis.

It is the NBA’s first ever play-in tournament to decide who will be matching up against the LA Lakers next week, and hype is at a fever pitch with Trail Blazers guard, Damian Lillard, showing out over the past two weeks in the bubble.

We’ve looked at the numbers and put together our best plays for today’s action.

Spread: Grizzlies +6.5 (-110*)

Lock: Grizzlies at the moneyline

Do you like theatre? Well, then, this is the bet for you.

Portland come into the match as red-hot favorites, and deservedly so, but with the play-in tournament rules set up so that Memphis would have to win today and then again tomorrow to knock Portland out, our data suggests that the Grizzlies will force this to a deciding Game 2.

Over/Under: Under 230.5 has (-110*) has a 51% probability

It’s technically not playoff basketball, but really it is. As with most playoff games, expect the clamps to go on as nerves get the better of players, especially in this win or go home format. It’s going to be tight and it’s going to be tense. Take the under.

Spread: Grizzlies +6.0 (-110*) has a 51% probability

We think the Grizzlies are good here, but if you just can’t trust them, we recommend taking them at the spread for that extra insurance.

Dimers' take-out

This promises to be a classic weekend that will set the tone for how the NBA move forward with their season structure. We’re tipping this to be a huge success overall, but today we think Memphis are going to force this to a Game 2 on Sunday.
