Predictions and bets for Jazz v Nuggets

August 8, 2020 4:06 AM

Two teams right in the midst of the West playoff picture lock horns today with Utah taking on Denver.

As has been the way with most of the teams who had already clinched a playoff berth before the restart, the Nuggets and Jazz have been managing player loads in order to ensure everyone is fresh leading into the postseason.

With a bevy of players potentially missing today for both teams for rest reasons, our model sees this one going down to the wire.

Dimers' Suggested Plays

Lock: Nuggets Moneyline (-122*)

Spread: Jazz +1.5  (+100*)

Total points: Under 222 (-110*)

Despite resting key players throughout the last few games, some of Denver’s youngsters have been able to fill the void and compete at the top level – none more so than Michael Porter Jr. The 2018 14th pick, who some considered to be a risk, has shown he was anything but.

Expect to see MPJ’s development continue as he helps Denver get over the Jazz.

Even though our model sees Denver winning, we are predicting they win by only the slightest of margins. Look for the Jazz to keep it close and to challenge the Nuggets over and over throughout the match – it could come down to the last shot.

Total points

With some defensive shot stoppers on both teams, our model is predicting that this will be a lower than average scoring match. Expect for this one to just go under as both teams try to lock up.

Dimers' take-out

Two really evenly matched teams, it almost feels like a toss of a coin. A lot will depend on whether there are any late outs but we expect Denver to still win this one with the quality that got them to the NBA West’s third-seed.
