2021 MLB All-Star: Home Run Derby Picks and Bets, Monday July 12, 2021

The 2021 MLB All-Star Week is here, from Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, with the T-Mobile Home Run Derby providing something to bet on.
Eight All-Stars will compete in four single-elimination matchups over three rounds. Batters have three minutes in the first and second rounds to slug as many dingers as they can. In the third and final round, that is reduced to two minutes. Bonus time can be added to a batter if they hit at least one homer that goes 475 feet or further.
Oh, and a batter is entitled to one 45-second timeout per round.
Got it? Good. Let's win some money.
Today's picks and odds are brought to you by PointsBet Sportsbook.

Here are our best picks for the Home Run Derby ⏬
BET: Pete Alonso to win the Home Run Derby with PointsBet (+500)
You'd be forgiven for thinking that this year's All-Star Week is actually a Shohei Ohtani appreciation week. In addition to the Angels pitcher taking the honor of being the subject of our image for this article, the Japanese pitcher/slugger will take his place as the first ever dual position starter in All-Star history. He'll also be taking part in the Home Run Derby where he is +2-5 favorite to take it out.
However, we here at Dimers like value, especially when there's some other factors to consider. For us, Pete Alonso has been here before and has won before, taking the 2019 title. He's also in good form, hitting six homers in his last 15 games. We're going to take the experience in this one.
BET: Trevor Story to hit the longest home run with PointsBet (+550)
Story will be the home town man and if he gets on a run, he might very well be the story of Monday. The Rockies slugger knows the terrain at on his home turf and has history swinging for the fences at Coors Field. He owns the third-longest homer at the ballpark, hitting for 487 feet in 2018. He's been out in the media in the lead up talking about putting on a show for the home fans, including some attempts at trying to break his personal best.
