NBA 2020/21 Championship: Odds, Preview and Picks

The 2020/21 NBA season is set to be as crazy as the one before but that doesn't mean we can't make some money on it!

When we first wrote this preview up, the season didn't even have a start date and now all of a sudden we are just days away!

As you look back at the Lakers winning in 2020, you may think there was never value there for a team with LeBron and AD but thanks to Sports Odds History, you can see that you could’ve got them at +1800 (18/1) before AD signed and even +450 as the season kicked off way back in October 2019.

So with that in mind, let’s have a look at some of the teams that could provide some value and give us a big payout come the end of next season.

πŸ€ Miami Heat: +2000 (were +1500 on Oct. 13)

Rarely do we get the runners-up at such long odds for the next season (unless LeBron has just left the Cavs) but here we are with the Heat sitting at a juicy 20/1!

Most would consider Jimmy as their best player but with all-star Bam Adebayo plus Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson all in the early stages of their careers, the Heat should only get better over the next few seasons.

πŸ€ Denver Nuggets: +1600 (+2100 on Oct. 13)

A team similar to the Heat in that they have shown how much heart they have, whilst built around a bunch of young players. The Nuggets should only improve in the next few years, and with a serious chance of making a big trade to add to their big two, 21/1 could look extremely silly, even as soon as the start of the season.

Since writing the above, the Nuggets have come into 16/1! Hopefully you got on already.

πŸ€ Dallas Mavericks: +2200 (+2700 on Oct. 13)

You may be detecting a theme here around teams with young stars, and there’s no bigger young star than one Luka Doncic. Luka continues to improve at a ridiculous rate and has been ticking off the milestones of an all-time great every time he takes the court.

He’s already proven that he can perform in the playoffs against some of the best defenders in the league and will use this experience as a building block in 2021. If Porzingis can stay fit and the Mavs use their cap space in an effective manner, it’s only a matter of time that they are in the Finals with a big chance of a chip.

πŸ€ Philadelphia 76ers: +2400 (+3200 on Oct. 13)

This one is by far the most speculative of the lot, but there’s value to be had. The Sixers started last season as low as +775 and although they were super disappointing, the talent is very much still there.

Betting the Sixers though actually gives you two different opportunities, with the possibility that Simmons and Embiid can click under Doc OR that one of those two is traded away for a massive haul, and a new-look Sixers give the people of Philly something to cheer about.
