I’m sure you’ve probably heard of the FanDuel brand - it’s a well-known operator in North America, but in this FanDuel review I want to give you the full low down on the Ontario sportsbook and what it offers.

I’ve always been a fan of the FanDuel Ontario website design, but I still think that, although it looks clean and sleek, it could be modernized. There’s just something about the layout and menu style that looks a little retro. Regardless, the usability is fantastic, and overall, I like the color scheme and design.
It uses what I call the standard left-to-right sportsbook layout. This is where you have sports categories and main navigation on the left, betting content in the middle, and your bet slip on the right. 95% of Canadian sportsbooks use this layout - it’s easy to follow and it gives you a logical flow to your betting process.
I’ve always found it easy to browse the different sports, find the competitions and matches I want, and look at the betting markets. They just make everything easy.
Mobile Betting Is Available on Android and iOS Devices
I do use the desktop website for FanDuel if I’m on my PC, but 90% of the time I’m using the mobile app. This is available from the Google Play Store or App Store for Android and iOS devices. I’ve had the app for years now, but to create this FanDuel review, I went back and looked at the ratings on the stores. The Google Play Store app has a 4.7 star rating from 379,000+ reviews, while the App Store version has a 4.9 star rating from over 1.8 million reviews!
This is easily one of the best-ranked and rated sports betting apps I’ve seen, and most of the reviews are glowing. From my personal experiences, I agree - the app works much better than the desktop website, and I think it has a cleaner design that makes better use of the available space. For my Samsung Galaxy, I’ve always had quick loading times, smooth navigation, and the in-play betting has been a pleasure to use too. There aren’t really any downsides to the app, as you get the full functionality of the desktop website in a more stylish design.

FanDuel Casino Ontario, for the sportsbook, I wanted to double-check the core features. These aren’t exactly “fun” things, but without them, a sportsbook quickly falls apart. For example, it needs industry-standard security, promotion of responsible gambling, and a valid gambling license from a reputable authority. I looked at these factors and more to create this FanDuel review.
Security
When you’re using a Canadian sportsbook, you’re most likely using real cash transactions and entering personal details. Because of this, you want peace of mind that the site or app is secure and that your information is protected. I’ve used FanDuel for years now and never experienced any security problems.
However, I still went back and looked at the core security elements the site has. HTTPS connectivity is used for the website, which is standard, and SSL encryption is also present. These are two essential features I expect an online sportsbook to have. When writing this review, I also found an active SSL certificate issued by Amazon RSA 2048 M03.
They have a couple of authentication features too for your account and payments. You can enable advanced authentication for your account login, such as 2FA - I recommend doing this as it’s an extra safeguard and anti-fraud measure. If your payment provider supports it, you can also enable payment authentication, although this is done from your provider, NOT FanDuel.
Responsible Gambling
I’m an advocate of responsible gambling, and I believe all customers should stay in control and learn about the tools and resources available. I like that FanDuel has the same mindset, and it promotes responsible gambling on all its website pages. You’ve got links to responsible gambling websites and helplines - for example, they have advice to go to the ConnexOntario website if you think you need help.
I’ve also used their responsible gambling tools. Namely, the deposit limits and reality checks. I always have a weekly deposit amount set, and I have a reality check to pop up if I’ve been on the site for 30 minutes - simple things like this are fantastic for staying in control and betting responsibly.
Licensing
I NEVER use unlicensed Ontario sportsbooks or online casinos. Without a gambling license, an operator can act as they wish. They could withhold your winnings, give you rigged odds, or sell your personal data, for example. FanDuel is strictly a licensed online sportsbook. It has a gambling license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, which is the official state-sponsored license issuer. I have no doubts about the legitimacy of this site and am confident that it complies with regulations and gives you a fair gaming experience.
Customer Support
When I’m using a Canadian online sportsbook, I want some assurance that I can get in touch with customer support when I need it. FanDuel Ontario does have a range of support options, but I would like them to be more accessible. For instance, there is a live chat, but you can only access it by first clicking on the support link from the website footer.
Click on the “Chat with expert” icon in the bottom right-hand corner to open the chat. You then have to enter your name, email, and subject. After that, you’ll get connected to someone within 5 minutes. I’ve tested this chat at various points during the day, and from what I can see, it is available 24/7, and the support reps are helpful.
There is also an FAQ section that is easily one of the most detailed I’ve read. It’s got a search function and a range of common questions/main categories such as deposits, withdrawals, responsible gaming, and account problems. I’ve used the FAQ section multiple times when I’ve been stuck, and I think it can serve as a viable alternative to the live chat.

Deposits and Withdrawals
I’ve tested many Canadian sportsbooks, and FanDuel has one of the better payment setups. Please note that the deposit and withdrawal methods you might see could be different from the ones I can use. However, I have always been able to choose from Visa, MasterCard, gift card, PayPal, Venmo, PayNearMe, and online banking.
This site generally has low minimum deposit and withdrawal limits, which can vary by payment method, and the payment process has always been smooth for me. My deposits always go through instantly unless there’s some problem with my bank account, and withdrawals are usually processed within 24 hours, but often much quicker than this.

I think overall, this brand does an excellent job of that.
You Can Bet on 30+ Different Sports
I’m personally a fan of NBA basketball, tennis, and European soccer, so these are the first sports I look for when checking out a sportsbook. Of course, FanDuel supports these three disciplines plus a heap more. At the time of writing this FanDuel review, I counted over 30 different sports, including:

This is one of the largest sports lists I’ve seen, and it easily competes with the top Canadian sportsbooks. There is more emphasis on North American leagues like the NBA, CFL, MLB, and NHL, but the other major sports like tennis, soccer, golf, and rugby also have excellent representation. I was impressed with the coverage they have for European soccer, for instance.
You can bet on the top tier leagues like La Liga, Bundesliga, and the EPL, but also the 2nd and 3rd flight leagues like Serie B, Ligue 2, and the Championship. I like that they also often have dedicated sections for popular events like the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup, and the Winter Olympics.
The Bet Variety Includes Parlays and SGPs
For ALL the sports supported on the
online betting app, you’ve got standard bet types like the moneyline, spread, and line bets. Most of the events go further than this, though, and offer a big range of props bets for teams and players. When I wrote this FanDuel review, the NBA Finals were live and the Pacers had just won G1, so I looked at the props bets for game 2. The variety was insane and included the following:
- First basket
- To score 10+ points
- 2+ made 3pters
- 4+ rebounds
- Player assists
- Player steals
- Player blocks
You could basically make Same Game Parlay bets, adding any number of player and team options for each of the players. So, I placed a bet on Haliburton, SGA, and Williams all to score 10+ and Oklahoma to win game 2. I love the variety they offer for the main sports - if you enjoy coming up with creative bets and delving into the stats of the games, you’ll have a blast here.
My Betting Experiences at FanDuel
As you can already see, I’ve enjoyed my experiences using the FanDuel betting setup, and I’ve been a customer here long before I ever created this review. I generally get a feeling as soon as I sign up to a sportsbook and can tell whether it’s good or not - from the first time I browsed the sports categories and looked at the betting options, I knew FanDuel was just a quality option. It’s got all the sports, features, and bet types I would expect, and navigating the actual sportsbook is easy.
Is the FanDuel Canada Live Betting Section Worthwhile?
When looking at
legal betting sites in Canada, I like to dedicate a separate section to live betting. FanDuel Ontario has a dedicated in-play betting category - click on the “live now” button and it will show all the available live games. At the top, you can filter this by sport, which makes it easy to find the games you want to bet on.
From my testing and experience, this operator has live options for all its sports. Some are more detailed than others, but for most, you have 5-10+ betting options at any one time. Sports like football, ice hockey, and basketball generally have more in-play betting options available, but I didn’t think any area was lacking.
A small area of improvement I would like to see is the detail and stats for the live games. There is a game tracker and stats, but I found this temperamental at times, and sometimes it took a while to load. Once it’s loaded, you do get an excellent range of stats, plus a cool 2D render of the game action. This makes following the flow of play much easier and also allows you to potentially make on-the-fly bets based on how the game is unfolding.

It’s a resounding yes! There’s a reason why I’ve been a FanDuel customer for a while now - that’s because it’s just a high-quality sportsbook with an incredibly well-rounded set of features.
